LAGBAC – Chicago’s LGBTQ+ Bar Association – is one of the largest and most respected LGBTQ+ bar organizations in the United States. Based in Chicago and serving the greater metropolitan area, we are a vibrant and inclusive community of attorneys, judges, elected officials, law students, and legal professionals dedicated to promoting equality, advancing justice, and fostering excellence in the legal field.
Since 1987, LAGBAC has worked to strengthen and support the LGBTQ+ legal community through a wide range of impactful initiatives, including:
-
Hosting engaging social and professional networking events that build community and connection;
-
Offering hundreds of hours of continuing legal education (CLE) to support ongoing professional development;
-
Awarding scholarships to help empower the next generation of LGBTQ+ legal leaders;
-
Partnering with organizations such as Lambda Legal, the Public Interest Law Initiative, and the Cook County State’s Attorney and Public Defender’s Offices to provide meaningful internship opportunities for law students;
-
Providing mentorship and guidance to law students and early-career attorneys; and
-
Participating in the judicial evaluation process as a member of the Alliance of Bar Associations for Judicial Screening.
At LAGBAC, we believe that representation matters—and that by working together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable legal profession for all.
